About the role:

In this role, you’ll work as the lead producer and marketing specialist on several branded podcasts with subjects ranging from travel and lifestyle to technology. You will be working closely with hosts, co-producers, and a full production team to deliver weekly/bi-weekly episodes (dependent on the show). You will work in a primarily remote environment and must be able to produce consistent, stellar creative output working with a range of different people and personalities. You’ll also lead the marketing efforts for many of Quill’s client podcasts across a wide range of industries. You will develop and implement paid, owned, and earned media strategies that drive measurable audience growth and engagement for each show; and that drive business results for our clients. 

This role requires a blend of creativity, storytelling, project management, strategic thinking, data fluency, creative marketing, and client-facing communication. You’ll collaborate closely with other producers, marketers, project managers, and clients to ensure the creative and strategic success of a portfolio of branded podcasts.

Salary range:

$50,000-$65,000 CAD

Responsibilities:

Podcast Production

  • Creative Content Production: Develop and refine big-picture strategies, creative concepts, episode plans, interview questions, and more for branded podcasts. 
  • Production Management: Oversee the process of developing the podcast and making sure things are running smoothly, on time, on brief, and on budget.
  • Guest Research + Creative Coordination: Manage guest pre-calls, research, and host preparation to ensure the highest quality content and thorough interviews. 
  • Collaboration & Integration: Serve as a strategic thought partner to clients, proactively bringing new ideas to the table. Provide feedback on positioning, messaging, and content formats to optimize promotional impact. Stay up to date on emerging marketing trends, tools, and podcasting best practices to continually elevate our offerings.
  • Analytics Tracking and Reporting: Monitor podcast metrics to make improvements to how the podcast is structured and produced; provide regular marketing and analytics reports and when necessary, present them to clients

Account Management

  • Client Communication: Regular communication with client teams that encourages a collaborative environment and ensures top-notch client service.
  • Post Production Management - The candidate will be working with a team of editors but will be responsible for overseeing the recording, editing, and distribution of each episode. This candidate will review and provide internal approvals to edits and sit in on recordings to provide creative direction.

Audience Growth and Marketing

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop podcast-specific marketing strategies tailored to each client’s goals, audience, and industry. Manage full-funnel marketing campaigns across paid (social, display, podcast ads), owned (newsletters, social channels, show pages), and earned (press, partnerships, influencer outreach) media.
  • Growth & Optimization: Identify and test new growth levers including cross-promotion, guest amplification, platform-specific campaigns, and SEO strategies. Optimize show to improve visibility and discovery across podcast platforms. Evaluate marketing partners, ad platforms, and tools to support scale and innovation. Optimize Quill’s client marketing processes and tracking systems to ensure the best results and efficiency

  • A strong interest in podcasting and the ability to learn quickly if new to the medium
  • Knowledge of paid marketing strategies and running paid campaigns, or willingness to learn how to do so 

Skills and experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in broadcasting, journalism, audio editing, digital marketing, media production, or related field
  • 1-3+ years experience in a content production or marketing role
  • Ability to write specifically for audio and an understanding of how this is different from other mediums (print, screenwriting)
  • Ability to write for a specific tone/voice
  • Strong copywriting capabilities for creating loglines, episode descriptions, social media assets, and marketing materials
  • Strong understanding of journalism, news, and pop culture
  • Skilled in storytelling to attract a specific target audience
  • Experience with paid and organic marketing tactics for digital media. Bonus points if you have an understanding of how to develop and execute marketing strategies specifically for podcasts
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, Chartable, or podcast platform dashboards
  • Experience with paid media platforms and cost per click style marketing (Meta Ads, Google Ads, Spotify Ads, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of podcast distribution platforms, and an understanding of how to operate inside this ecosystem

Bonus points if you:

  • Have an understanding of the podcasting landscape and industry
  • Have an understanding of technical audio production, especially in a remote environment (candidate may be required to provide technical support on recordings from time to time or recommendations for improving sound quality)
  • Have experience producing for a long-form audio / video medium
  • Have worked in a 100% remote environment before
  • Have previous experience working at or with a startup
  • Love dogs and all furry creatures
