You might think you know what it takes to lead a happier life… more money, a better job, or Instagram-worthy vacations. You’re dead wrong. Yale professor Dr. Laurie Santos has studied the science of happiness and found that many of us do the exact opposite of what will truly make our lives better. Based on the psychology course she teaches at Yale--the most popular class in the university’s 300-year history -- in The Happiness Lab, Laurie will take you through the latest scientific research and share some surprising and inspiring stories that will change the way you think about happiness.

The Happiness Lab: Podcast Review

November 11, 2020

The Happiness Lab is hosted by Dr. Laurie Santos, a cognitive scientist and Professor of Psychology at Yale University. It’s not hard to guess what this series is about based on the name, happiness. But unlike many other happiness and self-love podcasts, The Happiness Lab takes a scientific approach to happiness.

Each episode dives into either a specific topic that can contribute to helping us live a better and happier life, or it looks back at history and those that studied happiness. I’m going to assume that many of us have listened to plenty of podcasts around happiness and living a better life. I've found that most of them follow similar formats and overall just give pretty generic advice. The Happiness Lab leaves me with tactical advice or at least something to really ponder and think about after the episode has ended. Placing the focus on the science of happiness really changes the approach to this topic, telling listeners why they may be doing what they’re doing and how to change it to make your life more enjoyable and, well… happy.

The podcast is highly produced and brings on interesting voices from various backgrounds that help to shift your perspective on how you view happiness. If you’re wanting a life change, The Happiness Lab will definitely have episodes that can help you.
