Planet Money

Planet Money is a show about economics that's not boring. Really.

Planet Money: Podcast Review

November 16, 2019

Planet Money is a podcast that answers all the burning questions you have about the economy. Oh wait, you don’t have any burning questions about the economy? Don’t worry, me either - but Planet Money answers the questions we SHOULD be asking about the economy. Hard-hitting things like when’s the next recession? What’s up with interest rates? And how will currency change in the future?

But I’ll admit I’m not here for those episodes - my favourite Planet Money episodes deal with the stuff of everyday life. How do florists deal with the influx of customers on Valentine’s Day? Why the heck are Truffles so expensive? And how do gyms survive off of assuming their customers WON’T come in? I love that Planet Money takes an upbeat, energetic approach to breaking down what can be boring subjects - but they also help you understand the forces behind your everyday life - rent, mortgages, inflation, and all those other things you probably gloss over in the newspaper.

Listening to Planet Money makes you a smarter consumer - and, if nothing else, you’ll be entertained.
